Tuiscint were deserving champions of the 2024 EVE World Cup tournament. EVE Goirtín hosted the tournament at TU Dublin’s astro-pitch facility in the Grangegorman campus. A huge crowd of supporters turned out to cheer on their teams in the 5th EVE World Cup and the weather also came up trumps!
13 teams from across Wicklow, Kildare and Dublin prepared to battle it out under the keen eyes of the refereeing team from Dublin City Council’s Sport & Wellbeing Partnership who also provided equipment on the day.
The Order of Malta were on hand throughout the event to ensure everyone’s safety and after they had given a safety briefing to all the players, the tournament kicked off.
The many weeks of training and preparation were in evidence as the teams battled it out for a place in the final but in the end it was Cherryfield and Tuiscint who would meet in the deciding match. Despite a valiant effort by the Cherryfield players, Tuiscint prevailed to become the 2024 Champions with a final score of 4 - 0.
When the prize giving ceremonies had concluded, everyone was invited back to the nearby EVE Goirtín centre for refreshments where there was much post-tournament discussion and analysis!
A special thank you to Paddy in EVE Goirtín, Mitch Whitty at Dublin City Council’s Sport & Well-being Partnership and to TU Dublin for providing the superb facilities. And of course, a huge thank you to everyone who turned out to make it such an enjoyable day!
Everyone is looking forward to the 6th EVE World Cup in 2025.
